ROME VALLEY VINEYARDS
I attended the open house on Tuesday June 29th for Rome Valley Vineyards. I must say it is literally in the middle of no where in a small town called Garden Valley some where on highway 193 in between Auburn and Placerville. The long road and a few wrong turns, I almost gave up several times and drove home, however I did eventually make it to the location. I drove up the driveway with grape vines covering the hill, and drove up to the top and parked in the gravel parking lot. As soon as you step out of the car, the long drive and frustration just disappears as your jaw drops at the amazing view. It is literally on top of a hill that you can see a 365 degree view of just about everything.
On the front side of the house you can see the Tahoe mountains and on the back side of the house you can see all of the valley, Mount Diablo and even the fog in San Francisco. It was amazing.
I was greeted by BJ the Lady who operates the property. She gave me a tour through the property and house. The house is 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The bride and groom do get the master bedroom located downstairs to stay the night of the wedding. It has a large bathroom for the girls to get ready in. You also have the option to rent out the entire house and have your wedding party and/or parents stay there too.
The front yard is all green grass with a large wrap around deck which is perfect for the cocktail hour or even ceremony. The Guests can then walk through the house where the bar is setup. They have a really cool wooden bar with bar stools to serve your guests. You do have to serve their wine and provide an outside cater for any other alcohol.
Out in the back is the most amazing view. There is a large Gazebo out there which can be used for the ceremony or for the sweetheart table. There is a small paved area out there for a dance floor and so many options to change things around. They have a few areas that you can tent. Studio B can provide draping for your tent or even provide market lights to add some more lighting out there.
You have the whole property to your self from 10:00am to 10:00pm. So you can start your ceremony and reception at what ever time, you just have to have all music and the event end by 10:00pm.
The location is well equipped for power and they have outlets all over the place both indoor and outdoor. One small note, the people that own the house love Disney, so inside the house they have everything Disney on the walls and decor.
I did ask about lighting outside and they said it is like Disneyland and very magical at night out there. They have put twinkle lights all down the hill on the vines so they light up at night. I really do think you can have a fairytale wedding at this location.
One other really cool thing is that they do allow Helicopters to land there. How cool would it be for the groom and groomsmen to come in on a Helicopter!
The property said they can hold up to 250 guests there but I just don't see how. Maybe cocktail style with out tables, but if you are looking at doing a dinner then I would say 150 at the max.
There is also a hotel in Georgetown that is somewhat close that your guests can stay in. I would also suggest busing them out to the location so they don't have to drive.
All in all it was a pretty magical place and one worth the drive for.
